Our Story
The Legacy That Inspired WAIFC
One of India's greatest screen legends was born in Perth in 1908, and by the 1930s was a star across the subcontinent. Fearless Nadia's remarkable journey inspired a new era of creative collaboration between Western Australia and India.
Nearly a century later, her grand-nephew Shiamak Davar serves as WAIFC's Founding Cultural Connect Ambassador. He won India's National Film Award for choreography and staged two Commonwealth Games ceremonies.
What began as one remarkable journey is now a bridge that two screen industries are building together.
